Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Practice Examination

Scaffolding in education refers to the support structures provided to facilitate learner development. This concept involves breaking down learning into manageable chunks and providing assistance as students develop understanding and skills. Educators use scaffolding techniques to support students through various stages of learning, gradually removing support as the student becomes more competent and confident.

The approach incorporates various strategies, such as modeling, questioning, and feedback, tailored to the needs of individual learners. The ultimate goal is to empower students to achieve independence in their learning processes.

While technology, standardized curriculum models, and peer-to-peer systems may play roles in education, they do not specifically define the concept of scaffolding. Rather, scaffolding focuses on the tailored support mechanisms that aid students in their development, making it a critical element in effective teaching and learning practices.
